Classroom Volunteering

Provide volunteers for a

JA in a Day

"JA in a Day" is when multiple classrooms in an elementary school have JA programs for the whole day.  Volunteers are matched with a classroom and teach one full day of a program to the same class (about 8:30am to 3:00pm).  The JA in a Day event dates are pre-set between the school and JA staff, and there are 1-3 JA in a Day events per month from October through June. Companies can provide volunteers for one classroom or secure volunteers for the whole school (10-25 classrooms). After you sign up, you will need to find a time when JA staff can train employees and provide all necessary materials to facilitate the JA programs.

Provide volunteers for a week-to-week JA program

Week-to-week opportunities are typically at the middle and high school levels. Volunteers are matched with a classroom and teach JA programs for hour-long sessions per week for 5-8 consecutive weeks, depending on the length of the program.  One employee can volunteer for multiple sessions or they can share responsibility amongst your company. Volunteers are connected with the classroom teacher and design a schedule that works best for them. After you sign up, you will be contacted by JA staff to find a time for employees to be trained on the program and provided with all necessary materials to facilitate the JA program.

Volunteer for a semester-long program

Semester-long opportunities are typically at the high school level. Employees can volunteer for one session, multiple sessions, or they can share responsibility amongst your company. The semesters last from September to January and January to June. Volunteers can access program resources digitally. Programs are one hour long and can be delivered by the teacher or the volunteer. The JA staff and teacher will determine volunteer engagement based on volunteer availability. After you sign up, you will be contacted by JA staff to find a time for employees to be trained on the program and provided with all necessary materials to facilitate the JA program.
