Junior Achievement of Rhode Island

Traditional Delivery

Week to week JA programming.

JA in a Day Delivery

All Elementary school sessions in one day.

 

Traditional Delivery Requirements

Junior Achievement Responsibilities:

  • Junior Achievement offers its K-12 curriculum to individual classrooms on a first-come, first-serve basis, and will provide materials free of charge.

  • Junior Achievement will provide information on the various program delivery options and walk educators through each option.

  • Junior Achievement will train volunteers, and teachers as needed, and will provide support before and throughout the JA program.

  • Junior Achievement will connect volunteers and teachers so that they can determine program schedules, and will assist and coordinate as needed.

  • Junior Achievement will provide digital volunteer guides to the classroom volunteers based on which delivery model they will be participating in.

  • Junior Achievement will provide access to the digital assets for both the classroom educators and volunteers.

  • Junior Achievement will schedule an initial virtual meeting for the volunteers and classroom teachers to conduct a dry run to work through any technology issues, as well as coordinating schedules for program delivery and to answer any questions.

  • Junior Achievement will review all of the necessary documents that both volunteers and educators will need to review and sign.

  • Junior Achievement will send the documents via AssureSign for virtual signatures.

Principal/Coordinator Responsibilities:

  • Principals/Coordinator will invite Junior Achievement to a virtual meeting to present to staff the various program and delivery options available.

  • Principals agree to implement the requested JA programs if endorsed by their teachers.

  • Principals agree that JA Staff can communicate directly with teachers to coordinate programs.

  • Principal will agree to allow students with media consent forms to be photographed by JA staff for use on JA social media and marketing items; Principal will ensure that teachers know which students can and cannot be photographed.

  • Principals will be sure that Junior Achievement is on their updated outside providers list.

  • Principals will sign a COPPA letter for Junior Achievement, as needed.

  • Principals will provide a copy of their media and digital release forms to Junior Achievement.

  • School Coordinator or the school principal will submit an official program request form.

  • School will provide tech access for students, volunteers and educators for virtual delivery.

Teacher Responsibilities:

  • Teachers will communicate with volunteers directly to set schedules and will keep JA Staff informed as needed. Teachers will respond promptly to email messages and/or phone calls from volunteers and JA Staff. Teachers will work with the volunteer to ensure that all sessions of a program are completed.

  • Teachers MUST be in the room with the volunteer(s) at all times. Under no circumstances should volunteer(s) be left in a classroom without the teacher.

  • Teachers will inform volunteers of anything that they should know regarding students and the classroom (language barriers, special needs or circumstances, usual classroom management techniques).

  • Teachers will assist volunteers with materials as needed (setting up posters, handing out student materials, or filling out student names on Certificates of Achievement).

  • Teachers will help the volunteer to stay on schedule during sessions.

  • Teachers will maintain classroom management and discipline. Teachers will respond to any discipline issues that arise.

  • Teachers will engage actively in the program and will encourage students to engage actively as well (prompt students during a class discussion, repeat instructions if students do not understand an activity, etc.)

  • Teachers will inform JA staff of which students can and cannot be photographed, if applicable.

  • Teachers will be responsible to enter the students information and unique email for program registration.

 

JA in a Day Delivery Requirements

Junior Achievement Responsibilities:

  • Junior Achievement offers its K-6 grade curriculum to at least 50% of your school, and will provide materials free of charge.

  • Junior Achievement will train school coordinator, teachers, volunteers and will provide support before and throughout the JA in a Day.

  • Junior Achievement will create and provide classroom schedules according to the school day schedule provided by the Principal/Coordinator.

  • Junior Achievement will meet with both the school staff and volunteers to review the delivery of a virtual JA in a Day (if requested).

  • Junior Achievement will offer kit delivery to schools for classroom teachers to deliver the program to their students in the classroom as requested.

Principal/Coordinator Responsibilities:

  • Principals will allow Junior Achievement staff to speak at a faculty meeting to obtain endorsement of teachers if necessary.

  • Principals agree to implement the JA programs if endorsed by their teachers.

  • Principals agree to communicate teacher responsibilities (see below) to teachers prior to the event.

  • Principal or Coordinator will set a date with JA staff.

  • Principal or Coordinator will provide necessary teacher and classroom information to JA staff at least 60 days prior to the event date.

  • Principal or Coordinator will provide JA staff with any necessary information to make schedules for the day.

  • Principal will agree to provide lunch for volunteers (breakfast for volunteers is optional).

  • Principal will agree to allow students with signed media consent forms to be photographed by JA staff for use on JA social media and marketing items; Principal will ensure that teachers know which students can and cannot be photographed.

  • Principal will agree to sign the “Program Verification Form” and “School Photo and Video Release” presented by JA staff at the end of the event day.

Teacher Responsibilities:

  • Teachers MUST be in the room with the volunteer(s) at all times. This is either the classroom teacher or the specials teacher who has come to relieve the classroom teacher for a planning period. Under no circumstances should volunteer(s) be left in a classroom without the teacher.

  • Teachers will inform volunteers of anything that they should know regarding students and the classroom (language barriers, special needs or circumstances, usual classroom management techniques).

  • Teachers will assist volunteers with materials as needed (setting up posters, handing out student materials, or filling out student names on Certificates of Achievement).

  • Teachers will ensure as much as possible that volunteers stay on schedule according to the schedule determined by JA staff with the Principal/Coordinator.

  • Teachers will maintain classroom management and discipline. Teachers will respond to any discipline issues that arise.

  • Teachers will engage actively in the program and will encourage students to engage actively as well (prompt students during class discussion, repeat instructions if students do not understand activity, etc.)

  • Teachers will inform JA staff of which students can and cannot be photographed.
